  • VESCONITE ON STEEL ROLL TURNING LATHES

White metal bushings have been used traditionally in cradles for heavy steel rolls during the machining of the roll profile. A heavy-duty lubricant was required on these bushings, which tended to become ingrained into the rolls and difficult to remove. Vesconite bushings replaced the white metal ones, and have offered a far longer life spam, as well as zero contamination due to them not requiring lubrication.

  • VESCONITE BUSHINGS FITTED TO PREVENT CONTAMINATION FROM LUBRICANTS

A company producing expanded polystyrene (EPS) foam moulded products kept encountering problems of final product contamination, caused by the lubrication necessary for sliding operation of the bronze bushes installed in the platens of their equipment. Vesconite self-lubricating bushes were installed into the platens. These bushes guide the platen along hard chromed columns when clamping action takes place. Owing to the ability of Vesconite to operate unlubricated, any contamination of the moulded products through contact with the columns or from dripping lubricants is eliminated, as the columns are free of any oil or grease.

  • VESCONITE BEARINGS USED ON RUBBER MASTICATING MILL

A local valve making plant uses a masticating mill to process raw rubber into sheet. The rollers of this machine and their costly phosphor bronze bearings needed to be lubricated daily. This is a heavy duty application, the forces generated in the rubber mill are sufficient to cause the surrounding work area to vibrate. The machine operates 9 hours a day, five days a week and is water cooled. The phosphor bronze bushes were replaced with Vesconite, which is considerably cheaper, hard-wearing and self-lubricating.
