  • VESCONITE PROPELLER SHAFT BEARINGS FITTED TO MOTOR CRUISER

The OEM propeller shaft bearings on a 48 ft motor cruiser showed significant signs of wear. Replacement bearings were machined from Vesconite and easily fitted along with new shafts. Vesconite performs well in salt water, self-lubricates and does not suffer from swelling or delamination, so often associated with other bearing materials. These inferior materials can result in shafts seizing and causing further component damage.

  • FERRY RUDDER BEARINGS REPLACED WITH VESCONITE

Vesconite rudder bushings have been fitted top and bottom on transport ferries in Brisbane, Australia. The Vesconite bushings replaced inferior polyurethane versions, which failed within 6 weeks. The ferries operate in a very harsh environment with a lot of full lock/full throttle turning takeoffs. The load and vibration associated with these actions result in severe strain on the bushing. The Vesconite bushings fitted continue to perform well.

  • VESCONITE RUDDER BEARINGS FITTED TO DAMAGED TANKER

After a routine check of the rudder bearings while docked in Curacao, premature wear was discovered on a gas tanker. Vesconite was supplied the same day! A 1000 mm length of bushing was driven to Schiphol airport from where it was transported by plane to Curacao only minutes after arrival. The next day the bush was machined at the ship yard to the sizes required, and fitted only 25 hours after the order. The quick delivery ensured that the vessel could sail according to schedule.
