  • VESCONITE BUSHING FITTED TO MULTISTAGE MRA PUMP

The MRA Multistage pump is used to pump water from one level to the next in certain gold mines. The renewable bush on the MRA pump has an outside diameter of 140 mm, inside diameter of 120 mm, is 165 mm long and has a 180 mm diameter flange 10 mm thick. The pump runs at high revolutions and the bush acts as a seal. The use of Vesconite has resulted in much longer wear life than the traditional phosphor bronze bush. The Vesconite replacement was achieved at approximately one third of the bronze bush price.

  • VESCONITE BEARINGS FITTED TO POWER STATION COOLING PUMPS

Vesconite bearings replaced the original rubber bushings on refurbished power station pumps. In many cases large diameter rubber bearings have to be specially manufactured to order, yet ready to machine Vesconite bushing stocks are kept in many worldwide centers. At this power station, a further advantage noted is that the installed running clearance was much closer for the Vesconite bearings than was possible with the original cutlass rubber bearings. The benefit is that the impeller does not run on the casing and therefore the pump is more efficient, both in respect of pumping ability and a saving in power consumption.

  • VESCONITE SELECTED FOR IMPROVED ENERGY EFFICIENCY

An Australian company that specialises in pump refurbishment has included Vesconite pump bushings as part of its energy-reducing refurbishment package. The pumps that it repairs have used bronze bushings historically and this has been expensive and caused damage to shafts. The Vesconite bushings, in contrast, offer the advantage of being able to run with small clearances, which causes less recycle or less movement of pressurised water from the previous stage to the next stage. Water utilities in the region continue to rely on the pump refurbishment firm, which is also a supplier of OEM pumps, seals and filtration systems.
