  • VESCONITE SOLVES SEIZING ON BRAKE VACUUM BRAKE CONTROLLER

Within a relatively short period after servicing, the rotary phosphor bronze valve disc tended to seize. Partial skimming of the surface created air leakage and lubricants did not work either. It was suggested that a wear liner made from Vesconite Hilube be fitted to the under surface of the rotary valve disc. Under the railways authorities supervision testing was executed in which the equivalent of a three year period of operation was simulated. The test proved that the use of the Hilube wear liner made possible the free operation of the valve at all times.

  • VESCONITE HOPPER DOOR BUSHINGS

On the 5 ton Robert Hudson bottom discharge hopper, the original phosphor bronze bushing on the release mechanism became loose in the housing due to the impact it was subjected to. This application is not lubricated so the choice of alternative materials is limited. Some synthetic materials tested squeezed out, and were thus found to be unsuitable. Vesconite bushings have been fitted and continue to perform well, with no wear or deforming.

  • VESCONITE USED TO REPLACE MAIN DRIVE BEARINGS

Excessive wear to drive bearings and shafts on a railway application was causing premature wear to the axle, motor pinion and gear systems. Vesconite hilube was trialed as a replacement to white metal bearings and has proved very successful. The white metal bearings didn’t last long and a large amount of greece was needed for lubrication. With Vesconite, little or no grease is applied, while bearings and shaft are showing no signs of wear.
